Job: Public School #70 in Long Island City, NY
Square Feet: 2,800
Depth: 5 Inches
Applicator: Pyramid Floor Covering
The school was in
need of a renovated cafeteria. The first step was to remove the old flooring
and install new VCT throughout the 2,800 SF area.
The demolition involved
removing the entire wooden floor structure down to concrete; a step that
removed 5 inches of wood. The project had to be done quickly over the holiday
break so as to not disrupt the school schedule. Pyramid Floor Covering was
hired by Cinalta, the General Contractor to pour LATICRETE SUPERCAP at a depth
of 5 inches and to install the new floor covering after only 72 hours of drying
time! Pyramid used pea gravel mixed into the SUPERCAP as a filler. There was
also exposed piping above the concrete that had to be encapsulated by the
SUPERCAP.
The project went without incident and because of
the advanced hydration technology of the SUPERCAP, the requirement to install VCT flooring over the 5 inch pour after only 72 hours was met! The cafeteria was up and
going on the first day after the holiday break!
